1. Who We Are
Pisheru is a vocabulary-learning app that uses on-device Apple AI to generate learning content. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app processes, how it is used, and your choices.
2. What We Do (High‑Level)
- No account is required.
- Learning progress and content are stored locally on your device using Apple's Core Data.
- We use Apple system frameworks (on‑device) to generate AI content (stories, definitions, example sentences, synonyms/antonyms, tutor chat).
- We use RevenueCat for in‑app purchases/subscriptions.
3. Data We Process
A) On your device (local only; not sent to our servers):
- Vocabulary data: learned/skipped words, examples, definitions generated for you, and synonyms/antonyms.
- Study progress: your review scheduling (Leitner system), daily goals, and completion state.
- Custom entries: words you add and your related notes.
- Handwriting images: drawings you create in the Handwriting step are saved locally in the app's Documents/Handwriting folder.
- App settings: your selected CEFR level (A1–C1), preferred language for explanations, and basic UI preferences.
B) System services and third parties:
- Apple In‑App Purchase: Apple processes payments and may associate purchase records with your Apple ID per Apple's policies.
- RevenueCat: Used to manage entitlements (e.g., "Premium") and receipts. RevenueCat may receive purchase metadata (e.g., app/user/device identifiers used for entitlement management). See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
We do NOT run our own analytics or advertising SDKs. We do NOT sell personal data.
4. AI and Content Disclaimers
- On‑device Apple AI: We use Apple's system language model frameworks to generate content. Where on‑device AI is unavailable, features may be limited or gracefully disabled. We do not transmit your prompts or word data to our own servers for AI processing.
- AI chat is automated: The "AI Tutor" is not a human. Responses are generated by AI and may contain mistakes or inaccuracies. Do not rely on the app for professional or safety‑critical advice. Please verify important information from trusted sources.
5. Oxford 3000 & 5000 Word Lists
We use the Oxford 3000 and Oxford 5000 word lists as reference for vocabulary selection. For details see: Oxford Learner's Dictionaries. The Oxford lists are the property of Oxford University Press; they are referenced for educational purposes and not republished here.
6. Information We Don't Collect
- No contact information: We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or address in the app.
- No location, contacts, photos, camera, or microphone access: The app does not request these permissions. Pronunciation uses text‑to‑speech (audio playback) only.
- No behavioral tracking: We do not use ad networks or cross‑app tracking SDKs.
7. How We Use Information
- To operate the app locally on your device: generate study content, track progress, and present your learning status.
- To manage purchases and entitlements via Apple and RevenueCat.
8. Data Sharing and Disclosure
- We do not share your local study content with third parties.
- Purchase/entitlement data is shared with Apple and RevenueCat to the extent necessary to complete transactions and manage subscriptions.
- We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental request.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
- Local data (progress, custom words, handwriting images) remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- You can reset local learning data in the app: Profile → App → "Reset App (Testing)". Note: purchase records managed by Apple/RevenueCat are not affected by uninstall/reset.
- To request deletion of any RevenueCat‑linked customer information related to your purchases, contact us (see Section 14). We will coordinate with RevenueCat where applicable.
10. Children's Privacy
The app is intended for general audiences and educational use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information, please contact us so we can assist.
12. Security
Local data is protected by iOS/iPadOS security and your device's protections. While we follow platform best practices, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
13. Your Rights
Depending on your location (e.g., EU/EEA, UK, California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data. Because we do not run a backend, most data can be managed by you directly on the device (reset data/uninstall). For purchase records (Apple/RevenueCat), contact us and we will assist with applicable requests.
14. Contact Us
You can find it on our website: https://vocabulary.pisheru.app
Please include "Pisheru Privacy Request" in your subject line and specify your country/region.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version in the app and/or on our website, with a new "Effective" date. Your continued use of Pisheru after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
